White Reaper have called their second album, ‘The World’s Best American Band’, showing some of the same confidence as Muhummad Ali, who incidentally also came from their hometown of Louisville Kentucky. Having named their debut album, ‘White Reaper Does It Again’ however, we get the feeling the band doesn’t take itself too seriously. Their track, ‘Judy French’ is hard 80s style rock and we like it a lot.
‘Judy French’ is raging guitars and keys, with vocals spat by lead singer Tony Esposito, and we challenge anyone to listen to the song without at least nodding their head. The accompanying video stars actress Alexandra Daddario, best known for her roles in ‘Baywatch’ and ‘San Andreas’. She mimes the lyrics to the song, while at the same time playing guitar and keys, and doing a bit of her own headbanging, becoming in turn each of the members of the band, in their clothes and using their instruments. The band pops in from time to time, but the focus is all on Alexandra.
Muted colours and stars and stripes give the clip an All-American good times feel, and outdoor shots of classic cars only add to this effect.
‘Judy French’ is the lead track from the new album, and the video was directed by Brandon Dermer. You can find out more about White Reaper online from their official website, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. ‘The World’s Best American Band’ is out through Polyvinyl Records and is available here on LP, CD, cassette and as a digital download.
