Rich Lowe – ‘Boogey Man’

Although currently living in San Antonio, Texas, singer songwriter and producer Rich Lowe has his roots firmly entrenched in Brooklyn, New York City.

No stranger to hard times, with both of his parents behind bars before he was three years old, Rich nonetheless found music as his saviour. He attended Brooklyn High School Of The Arts, where his music teacher, Mrs Charlene Corbett-Thomas, discovered and nurtured his talent and passion for singing, therefore inspiring to devote his life to a musical career.

Rich was raised by his grandmother, Carrie Davis, who unfortunately died in 2001, before the release of his debut music video. He nonetheless chose one of her favourite songs, Jackie Wilson’s 1958 hit, ‘Lonely Teardrops’. He followed this with the EP, ‘12.27pm’, in 2015. From then he’s released six music videos, but his latest, ‘Boogey Man’. is his best yet. Rich partnered with B Sharpe for the writing, production, and direction of the video.

‘Boogey Man’ opens with Lowe walking home from a dance rehearsal with his friends. Along the way they meet a strange young girl, in pigtails and dark makeup, who says “He’s coming for you”, with no further explanation. They’re not threatened by the little girl, and keep walking, only to be confronted by other similarly-dressed children. There’s more than a hint of Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ to the video, with the Rich and his crew having a dance-off as a way of retaliating against the boogey man. Choreography for the video is by Maurice Dominique.
