Kyle Davis – ‘Rental’

21 year old Kyle Davis was asked what his aspirations were for this year, and replied, “My goal is for 2017 to be the year people discovered Kyle Davis.” A bold statement, but a clear indication of the Boston artist’s dedication and commitment to his music, which he started at only 8 years old, and saw him make it through five rounds of auditions for American Idol by the age of 16.

Kyle is a natural storyteller, and in combination with his smooth, alluring voice, his lyrics are guaranteed to find a permanent place in the listener’s heart. ‘Rental’, with a sound reminiscent of Nick Jonas or Bruno Mars, and co-written by Ryan Aderray, explores hook-up culture, and how far distant the experience is from true love. Davis gives a warning in the song that the he and the person he’s singing to should “keep our hearts out of it this time, let our bodies make up our minds”.

‘Rental’ comes with a video made by D-Sharp International, and features women joining with Kyle in a hotel, dancing through the halls, on the beds, and in the bathtub. In the end we see one of the women walking out of the elevator, putting a dollar in her purse, perfectly illustrating the lyrics, “This love is a rental”.

‘Rental’ is a laid back R&B track, with Kyle Davis’ vocals weaving and out of the smooth beats. You can find out more about Kyle online on his official website, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
