Another Lost Year – ‘Alien Architect’ Album Review

‘Alien Architect’, the new album from Another Lost year, is twelve tracks of gritty pure rock that pull no punches.

Opening with a spoken word introduction that sets the pace of this record – outlining just what it is about America that *doesn’t* make it great – we lead right into ‘Wolves’, which had been premiered by VEVO earlier this year.

If you’ve read our interview with Clinton Cunanan from April, you’ll know that Another Lost Year don’t consider themselves just any rock band – they call their style ‘Freedom Rock’, and the reason for this becomes more and more apparent as you listen to the expertly sung tracks. ‘Bastard Sons’ and ‘Trigger Finger’ (third and fourth tracks on the album) tell it like it is – America is in a bad place. The band expertly and beautifully conveys the message – but with the reassurance that it’s all going to be okay. And personally they’re actually doing their own part, they recognise the rot and by being honest and true to themselves – and encouraging others to do the same.

‘Alien Architect’ is a great album. Another Lost Year are clearly talented musicians with a heavily developed social conscience. Songs like ‘Run The Tank Out’ and ‘He Took Beautiful Away’ are perhaps the most familiar tracks on the album, with Clinton’s vocals rich and sweet.
