The Essential Weekly Playlist of: Kristy Osmunson

THE ESSENTIAL WEEKLY PLAYLIST

Kristy Osmunson is one half, with Jon Stone, of the duo American Young. Formerly of Bombshel, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee in early 2002, where she formed the band Bombshel, with lead singer Buffy “Buf” Lawson.

With Bomshel, the talented singer songwriter and fiddle player released one album and several EPs over a period of about seven years and a few band member changes before they finally split up. Kristy then formed  American Young with Jon, with whom she had previously collaborated on songwriting projects for the likes of Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton and Lee Brice. Brice produced their first single, ‘Love Is War’.

With that sort of musical background, any that Kristy couldn’t live without is bound to be interesting. Here’s her Essential Playlist.

Beyoncé – ‘If I Were A Boy’

She’s the queen.  She always slam dunks her work.  It’s completely unapologetic.  The melodic information is stupendous.

Dolly Parton/Whitney Houston – ‘I Will Always Love You’

Both Dolly and Whitney. Depends if you are saying goodbye to a friend or lover. Two different emotions but equally as powerful.

[space height=”5″]
Elle King – ‘America’s Sweetheart’
