Ethan & The Reformation Drop New Single, ‘Hollandia’ Ahead of Gigs

Ethan and the Reformation 2

Manchester five piece Ethan & the Reformation release their new single, ‘Hollandia’. The psych rock band have been featured on BBC Introducing.

Ethan & The Reformation describe themselves as, “a captivating five piece that will take you on a sonic journey through space and time”. Listening to their new track, ‘Hollandia’, we believe the description is most apt; the band taps into the popular psychedelic rock genre and gives it their own flavour. Throbbing guitars and mesmerising vocals which channel the spirits of both Frank Zappa and Jim Morrison at the same time, the quintet snarl and growl their way through the nearly four minute long song. Notable elements include the “laaaaa” refrain (which is echoed with a “la la la la”), which pays as much homage to The Beatles as to anyone else; the steady pulse of the bass and trancelike rhythm of the drums, and the liberal use of the guitar’s wah wah pedal.

Lyrically it’s not so challenging, but that’s all part of the beauty of the song. It does what it sets out to do, which is convey that late 60s feel. In short, it’s a great debut release, and signifies great things to come from the band.

Ethan & The Reformation will be performing at The Live Room, Manchester, and The Longlands Club, Middlesborough, on 25 and 26 March respectively. For tickets and more details please see here.
