Velvet & Stone are Lara, Kat and Holly, a three woman alternative/indie folk group based in Devon, whose music is drawn from personal stories, and melancholy West Country tales and landscapes, from which they create a serene, haunting, and original sound.
The trio met in 2014, having their roots in a small Devon village. Combining their talents, they soon won a singer-songwriter competition, which gave them the opportunity to make their first record, ‘The Storm’. Regular gigging, appearances at Somerset Festival, Sidmouth Folk Festival and Dartmouth Music Festival, along with plays on BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, and Balcony TV,  have further strengthened their reputation.
The band’s debut album was released in December and features a collection of original songs, including ‘Patchwork’, ‘The Storm’, and ‘Fisherman’s Blues’. It’s been produced by Jack Henderson, and features musicians Ben Nicholls and Andrew Tween.
Velvet & Stone have covered Bruce Springsteen’s, ‘I’m On Fire’, and it’s our Essential Cover for this week.
