Emerging out of LA’s vast indie music scene comes Island Apollo, a band creating some great danceable indie rock tunes that have a unique yet catchy sound destined not to go unnoticed. Â Two phenomenal singles off their debut self-titled EP, ‘Miracle’ and ‘Lion Eyes’, showcase the bands captivating sound and our available to preview on the band’s Soundcloud or webpage.
Starting under a different project name as teenagers the group found early success leading to frequent airplay on KROQ, winning the Orange County’s “Best Pop Artist” from the OC Music Awards, and opening for Capital Cities and Third Eye Blind.  They have proven to have a tight and professional sound playing legendary venues such as The Roxy and The Troubadour even though after seven years they have undergone the knife and are starting fresh with some carefully written songs and the new band name, Island Apollo.
The single ‘Lion Eyes’ available on their debut album features Spencer Ludwig from Capital Cities on trumpet and has the experienced sound and production you would expect from a band that has been through so much. ‘Miracle’ is another great song off the 5 song EP featuring catchy melody hooks and a steady dance groove that keeps the beat moving.
Island Apollo has a sound that is fresh and unique but can also be compared to some of the influences they draw from such as Arcade Fire, Billy Joel, Foster the People, Michael Jackson, The Killers, The Beach Boys, Weezer, Queen, and so much more.  Lead vocalist and guitarist, Ryan Kilpatrick had this to say about Island Apollo and the new EP,
“I think if you want to find success as a band, you can blend in with a genre that is on the rise and have a nice record deal, followers, and radio play for a few years. But if you want to have a career, and real fans, you need to create something that is new. The bands I respect the most, and seem to have survived, are those that have created a sound that was different than the bulk of the music being produced at that time.”
Island Apollo will also be playing a few shows in the LA area this month to promote their new EP. Here are some dates:
Sept 14th – The Wayfarer – Costa Mesa, CA
Sept 18th – Otter Rock Cafe – Morro Bay, CA
