“The Valkarys capture the unifying spirit of the Beatles and The La’s. Their guitars wouldn’t sound out of place in a ’60s Hamburg club and, indeed, it does sound like the ’60s has never ended with these guys” – God Is In The Tv

“With tremolo and reverb the choice effects, they recreate that sixties sound with ease” – THE MAG

Formed in 2006, The Valkarys are an Edinburgh based psychedelic/garage band. Songwriter Scott Dunlop sings lead vocals and plays guitar while Craig Birrell takes lead guitar, with Colin Brennan on bass and Wayne Hoy on drums.

The Valkarys first came to the attention of UK radio with their debut single ‘Candy Girl’, which they released in 2006 on Diffusion Records. Supporting this with a two week UK tour, the band garnered a strong fan-based through their searingly energetic live performances.

Their debut album, ‘The Average Can Blind You To The Excellent’ was released after their relocation to London, and won them the praise of Carl Barat (The Libertines), who played some of its tracks at his London club nights. They were invited to play the legendary Death Disco at Notting Hill Arts Club, and they also made a live appearance at the Babyshambles Club Night in Camden.

Following the success of two very well-received EPs, ‘Chloroform’ and ‘Psychodelica’, together with extensive UK touring and a coveted support slot with Exit Calm, The Valkarys have released ten-track album, ‘(Just Like) Flying With God’. It’s a brilliant gem of an album, with touches of Dylan, Bowie, and Echo and the Bunnymen’s Ian McCulloch.

The Valkarys recently returned to Edinburgh and are set to increase their profile further with this highly anticipated release, their most innovative and cutting edge collection of songs to date. Check them out online on their website, Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud, Bandcamp, and YouTube.

‘(Just Like) Flying With God’ is available on iTunes.
