Born in The Bronx, New York City, Adam Troy grew up in a musical home, where he was immersed in old school R&B, Motown, Hard Rock, Disco, and Jazz. He spent many years listening to, imitating, and generally soaking up the greats, and eventually decided to start releasing music, with a smooth, sensual vocal style reminiscent of those he admired in his youth, but with his own style.

Nas – ‘Replace Me’

Nas has been a leading rap voice in New York since the 1990s, and a master wordsmith at that. Entrepreneur and co-founder of Mass Appeal Records, Nas has worked with all the greats, such as Big Sean, as well as up and coming artists such as Houston-based rapper, Don Toliver, who’s signed to Travis Scott’s label, Cactus Jack.

Lesibu Grand – ‘WFS’

Afropunk.com described Lesibu Grand’s latest single and video, ‘WFS’ (aka ‘We Fucking Suck’) as “the punk anthem we need”, and “an instant classic”. Likewise, Punkblack.com said that ‘WFS’ “wields the truth like a chainsaw – literally”. We’re saying it rocks, and is nothing short of an anthem for the Atlanta-based truth-teller and social justice fighter.

Stokoff – ‘Fuego & Hielo’ 

Singer-songwriter Stokoff presents the opposite but elemental forces of both fire and ice in his latest single, ‘Fuego & Hielo’. There’s fiery passion right alongside poise that’s as cold as ice; he brings a blisteringly hot summer heat, that fits nicely against the late-night chill. He’s cooking with gas yet as cool as a cucumber.

Soup Review – ‘Stars In Their Eyes on SSRIs’

Sheffield, South Yorkshire, is known for its gritty musical tradition, which fuses RnB, soul, British Folk, and Rock ‘n’ Roll. Think Arctic Monkeys, Pulp, Joe Cocker, Def Leppard, Reverend And The Makers, ABC, The Human League. It’s brisk, no-frills, no punches pulled; smart and witty, with songwriters who don’t suffer fools gladly, and who don’t hesitate to use irony and sarcasm, along with a dark humour, to get their point across. Soup Review, with their new song, ‘Stars In Their Eyes On SSRIs’ are a fine example of a Sheffield band, with their front and centre melodies, and formidably intelligent lyrics.

Paul Maged – ‘Culture War’

Paul Maged describes himself as having a “rock band mentality inside a singer-songwriter”. ‘Culture War’, his fifth full length album, certainly goes a long way to confirm this, as the NYC via Boston multi-instrumentalist has the energy of a room full of rock musicians while the sharp focus that comes of someone with a social conscience, and who is calling the shots.
