Delivering relatable moments with his 2000s inspired sound, M. Spano gives us a nostalgic love story in his latest release, ‘Long Time Comin”.
Starting as a child, when his grandfather surprised him with a guitar and lessons taught locally, M. Spano has had a lifelong passion for music. Growing up, he played in a variety of bands, all the while exploring a range of genres, and honed his skills on guitar, piano, and drums – among other instruments – both as a live and studio session artist.
With his original music, M. Spano aims to “bring back the tones of the early 2000s”, and his signature style is characterised by open guitars, driving drums, and lush melodies, evoking nostalgia, while sharing a genuine insight on life, and love, as well as everything else.
With ‘Long Time Comin”, Spano examines the leap of faith that’s necessary before entering any sort of relationship, whether it be romantic or some other sort. The initial anxiety about how the other person feels; this is shown in the song, with the narrator being unsure if the object of his affections is genuinely feeling it too, or if they’re just playing him. He looks for the signs: and suddenly discovers that today there is something different, it’s the real deal. There’s a timeless quality to both the message and the song itself – it could as easily be heard on the radio any time during the 2000s as today, and of course, it’s just as relatable now as then.
Produced in collaboration with Michael Kundrath, at HIP Video Productions, the lyric video for ‘Long Time Comin” captures the same joy and sentimentality present in the song. Featuring scenes of happy couples, it uses a film-like aesthetic that reflects the 2000s style of the song. The graininess is soft and comforting, and the whole clip compels the viewer to want to know more about the journey of the blossoming romance. Perhaps M.
