The Love Island final just took place, a timely arrival for Livvy Lauren – whose track ‘Felt Love’ was surprisingly featured on the hit show this summer, kicking off a successful first year in music. We caught up with the rising star, got to know her a bit more, and discussed what’s next on her journey…
2025 is set to be a big year for you. Can you tease anything about your upcoming music and what fans can expect next?
I am so excited about this year! I have so many new songs I really want to release as soon as possible! My next single is a slightly different genre/style for me, but I absolutely loved writing it! Without giving away too much, it’s the perfect blend of upbeat dance music with emotional pretty deep/hard hitting lyrics!
What do you love most about being a musician?
I love how every single day is different, I am never bored! & my job never feels like a job because I love what I do!
Your music isn’t just about personal struggles – it’s also about uplifting and connecting with listeners. What do you hope people take away from your songs?
I hope that people can resonate with the lyrics, but also feel uplifted and powerful after listening to my music. I always try to blend the two perfectly, so that the lyrics are meaningful but the purpose of the song is to make the listeners feel better and more energised.
You’ve spoken about how songwriting has helped you navigate challenges like anxiety, depression, and ADHD. How has music been a form of therapy for you?
I think writing down your thoughts and feelings is one of the best methods of therapy anyway! Whether you are a musician, or a writer, or anyone… having a journal is scientifically proven to me an amazing form of therapy. Writing down your thoughts allows your brain time to rest and stops the overthinking process… so this is exactly how I feel when I write music! I journal what is going on in my life at the time.. I write down my thoughts and how it makes me feel, and then add a melody that matches the tone!
What has been the most rewarding part of your musical journey so far?
I think having my last single play on Love Island was a massive moment for me, because It made me genuinely believe that other people like my music!! I also LOVED performing as a support act for Will Young’s tour, and currently really miss performing live!
You performed alongside Maddox Jones on the legendary Will Young’s UK tour – could you share any highlights or fond memories from your experience?
Just being on the tour was SO SO fun!! Me and Maddox have a really lovely friendship and there is a great energy between us. As artists and people, we are so different, but my crazy hyper personality with his softer and jokeyyy personality just blended really well. We were just laughing the whole time, and after every show, we’d address how well we think our song went, and how we could improve it for the next show. We are both perfectionists, but for me … I think perfecting your craft is amazing because it helps you constantly grow as an artist.
Are there any artists you’d love to perform alongside in the future?
Oh god, there are so many artists I would love to perform alongside! I think doing a collaboration with Becky Hill would be amazing, just having 2 completely energised women on stage In the dance scene would be so powerful and fun! I would also love to write some more R&B ballad stuff for Jorja Smith and perform with her.. I think our voices would gel really nicely.
What songs are currently on your radar?
I am always listening to the charts, mainly because I want to learn more about our industry and what sounds/chords are trending and what the listeners are liking in music at this current time!! This week I have been listening a lot to Teddy Swims new album which I think is beautiful!
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I am hoping in 5 years time I would have written for some insane artists, had a tour of my own and an album out!
