Multifaceted Musician And Producer, Vapour Trail, Releases Enchanting New Single/Teaser, ‘Time Flies’

Vapour Trail drops ‘Time Flies’, the final song from their latest album, ‘RMT CNTRL’. Recorded on the premise that none of the instrumentalists were allowed to occupy the same physical space as any of the others at the same time, the album is the perfect reflection of what we went through during the Covid-19 pandemic, and perhaps signifies what is to be standard practice in 21st century music making.

‘Time Flies’ is out today, and is available to stream and download here.

Vapour Trail, the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter, Rob Davies, is at times a solo project, and at others a collaboration between contributors working together on those songs that swirl around in Davies’ head. Defying genre, and, in the case of ‘RMT CNTRL’, defying space restrictions by not having any at all, it’s an interesting and compelling concept. With ‘RMT CNTRL’, none of the artists met in person, recording their contributions in isolation from each other. This ensured that nobody overshadowed anyone else, and each was able to let their strengths show.

‘Time Flies’ is the final track on ‘RMT CNTRL’, and is an acknowledgement of the passing of Time, and the realisation that we are playing a balancing act with her. Although we cannot naturally predict the hour or day of our passing, there is a point at which the seconds we’ve lived suddenly outpace those we’ve left to experience. That balancing act shifts position. The way which we view the remaining time we have becomes more urgent. While this feels quite heavy, and perhaps not the sort of thing you want to be thinking about on a cold Friday in November, the song ends us with Carl Sagan’s words, “We are made of stars”, and reminds us that whatever and whenever our end, it’ll all be alright. How can we be sad about that?
