Dutch Singer Songwriter YME Releases Emancipating New Pop Rock Anthem, ‘Get Lost’

YME’s new single, ‘Get Lost’, released last Friday, 13 September, is a remarkable, high energy addition to the Dutch singer songwriter’s already incredible discography.

‘Get Lost’ is available to stream and download here.

A pop-rock song that examines themes of independence and finding your own path, ‘Get Lost’ is strikingly empowering, with its raw and live feel. Recorded at Green Valley Music Studio in Arnhem, The Netherlands, the lyrics for ‘Get Lost’ were written by YME (real name Ymkje de Bijl), and produced by Marco Roosink.

YME, who hails from Venlo, in The Netherlands, blends edgy electro vibes with alt-pop melodies, creating a fresh and infectious sound. She grew up in a musical family, with her mother a part of the 80s group, Ottowan, probably best known for their songs, ‘D.I.S.C.O,’ and ‘Hands Up (Give Me Your Heart)’. Not surprisingly, YME felt from a very early age that music was a natural path for her to pursue. Diagnosed with autism at a young age, YME recognised this as her superpower, and used music as an outlet to express herself in ways that words couldn’t alone. This resulted in her songs being not only poignant and deeply personal, but also packed full of hooks and masterful lyrical imagery.

Working closely with producer Marco Roosink, YME manages to never once lose the authentic and personal charm of her music, while maintaining a polished and world-class production style. Her lyrics are drawn from her own life experiences, ensuring that her sound remains relatable.

‘Get Lost’ is out now and is available to stream and download here. You can find out more about YME and her music online on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Spotify, and Apple Music.
