Yesterday, German singer/songwriter/producer Marius Lauber, better known in the music industry as Roosevelt, released his fourth single of 2023, titled ‘Rising’. The new electronic piece is part of his fourth studio album, titled ‘Embrace’, which is accompanied by a tour across North America, where Roosevelt will perform the album in cities across Canada, Mexico and the United States with his trio of backing band members.
Originally from the German city of Viersen, Lauber’s first project as a musician was taking on the drums for Beat!Beat!Beat!, an indie band based in the city. After the band’s separation, he started recording music solo, releasing his debut EP ‘Elliot’ as Roosevelt in 2013, which gained him mainstream attention. His debut self-titled album released in 2016 and hit Top 40 on the German charts, while also charting in America. Ever since then, he’s been releasing music to critical acclaim, with ‘Embrace’ set to join his ever-growing discography in September 2023 – which we can get a preview of with ‘Rising’.
‘Rising’ demonstrates that Roosevelt isn’t just a jack of all trades, but a master of two; his vocals and music composition are on a whole nother level. Combining his traditional synth-pop style with electronic elements to create a fusion mix, then layering lyrics on top like icing on a cake, Roosevelt moulds ‘Rising’ into an energetic, anthemic piece worthy of a listen from anyone. If this song is anything to go off of, ‘Embrace’ will be nothing short of brilliant – but we can only wait to figure that out.
