Corbin Dooley Exhales Uplifting Third Album, ‘Rocksteady’, On National Dab Day, July 10

Reggae artist Corbin Dooley is set to release his third album, ‘Rocksteady’, through Bikiniwax Records. The fourteen track record is filled with sun-soaked summer anthems, and will drop on National Dab Day, July 10.

Emerging around 2012, Dab Day is a celebration of CBD oil, commemorated every year on July 10. The date was selected because, when written upside down (such as, on a calculator), the numbers 710 resemble the word “OIL”. Corbin Dooley’s new album likewise celebrates the “dabbing” of cannabinoid oil, the practice of inhaling the concentrated and vaporized cannabis in its liquid form.

A vibrant, upbeat, and overall captivating album, ‘Rocksteady’ follows on from last year’s critically acclaimed Vance Powell produced alternative country-themed ‘Western Trauma’, and 2020s dark indie electronic album, ‘Affection’.

Even if dabbing, or indeed drug use of any kind isn’t your thing, there’s no denying the talent of Corbin Dooley. Opening with the uplifting and encouraging ‘Catalyst Moment’, the album is certainly a perfect addition to any summer playlist. Lyrics such as “Don’t forget to lean into your fears / don’t forget there’s no more time for tears” will speak to even the hardest of hearts, while other tracks, such as ‘Breathe Deep’, and ‘Underground River’ give the listener the opportunity to consider their own self-love, healing, and growth.

Corbin Dooley’s vocals are effusive and upbeat, set against the rhythms of the alternative reggae musical stylings, while catchy songs such as ‘Sweet Bird Of Freedom’, featuring guest vocalist Dawn, bring the party atmosphere to life.

‘Rocksteady’ was produced and mixed by Nick Poortman, and mastered by Emily Lazar, and Chris Allgood. Besides Corbin Dooley himself and the afore-mentioned Dawn, the album also features the talents of James Saez, Antonio Sol, Brian Lopez, Eddie Moore, Barbara Schucko, Sam Platt, Nadir Omowale, DeAndre Manning, and Luke John, and was recorded at EastWest Studios, in Hollywood, California.
