‘Fade Into You’ was a sleeper hit for Santa Monica alt-rock band, Mazzy Star, which although never getting to the top spot on the charts on its release in 1994 – the highest placing was #3 both in Iceland and on Billboard Alternative AirPlay – nonetheless imprinted itself as a classic 90s earworm in the minds of many.
No slouch when it comes to having a wide repertoire of songs up his sleeve, John Grimes of Jedward today dropped a very fine acoustic guitar cover of the Mazzy Star song:
With a singing and playing style reminiscent of American rockers such as Glenn Frey or Don Henley, and more than a touch of The Calling’s Alex Band, John tackles the song with gusto, adding his trademark passion which characterises all of his songs, whether covers or original recordings. It’s interesting to note that while Inhaler also recently covered ’Fade Into You’, both they and John have managed to put their own, completely different, stamps on the track.
John’s cover comes ahead of the release this Friday of Jedward’s 4th single from their 2019 album, ‘Voice Of A Rebel’. ‘Extraordinary’, a firm fan favourite, will be accompanied by a music video.
Jedward released single ‘Taste The Heat’ last month via their label Universal, and it is available to stream and download on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Google Play, and Amazon.
The ‘Taste The Heat’ video is out now on JedwardVEVO, also through Universal. You can download the video on Apple Music.
