On the 8th of May, Netflix unveiled a limited series ‘The Eddy’, directed by Damien Chazelle. You can now watch a behind-the-scenes featurette where you will witness interviews that will take you behind the music and vision behind ‘The Eddy’ – watch the video here:
Damien Chazelle is an Academy Award-winning director famously known for his work with the musical, ‘La La Land’. He teamed up with Emmy Award® winner Alan Poul (‘Tales of the City’), Houda Benyamina (‘Divines’), and Laïla Marrakchi (‘Le Bureau des Légendes’), to create an 8-episode, musical drama.
‘The Eddy’ is set in multicultural neighbourhoods in modern-day Paris. It follows a former Jazz pianist in New York, Elliot Udo – who is played by the very talented André Holland. Elliot now the co-owner for a failing club. Here, he manages the house band, whose lead singer happens to be on-again, off-again girlfriend Maja – played by the lovely Joanna Kulig.
Elliot discovers that the other co-owner Farid (Tahar Rahim) may be involved in some dodgy dealings involving the nightclub. Secrets come to light as the episodes go on and more characters are introduced including; Farid’s wife Amira (Leïla Bekhti), and Elliot’s troubled teenage daughter Julie (Amandla Stenberg).
