Tonya Lewis Taylor – ‘I Am More Than A Conqueror’

On ‘I Am More Than A Conqueror’, Gospel artist Tonya Lewis Taylor proves that she’s more than just a great leader – she’s a singer and praise-giver who is able to lift the other musicians in her choir as far as they can be lifted.

Tonya Lewis Taylor uses her formidable voice as a channel for the peace and Word of God; with every note she sings she gives testimony to the power and strength of her faith and spirit.

Tonya was previously a celebrity publicist and marketing exec in the music industry, and her CV includes a stint at Roc-A-Fella Records. As a vocalist however she’s made Billboard’s Top 15 with her single, ‘Thank You’, and her debut album, ‘Delayed But Not Denied’. She also broke into the Top 20 with ‘I’m A Winner’, from her 2016 album, ‘I’ve Got To Win’. Additionally, her recent book, ‘Be You Not Her’ is a manual for self-actualisation, and healthy living, and she’s the co-founder/executive director of Entertainers 4 Education Alliance, a non-profit which gathers celebrities and high profile people to emphasise the importance (and coolness) of being educated.

‘I Am More Than A Conqueror’ demonstrates Taylor’s close relationship with the music industry, and her familiarity with soul, RnB, and hip hop production. Nonetheless, it’s Gospel; but at its hottest – with the give and take between singer and choir we’ve come to know from the long Gospel tradition. The video for the song sees Tonya in her element, in Church, surrounded by others of the faithful. She leads and pulls together a choir of distinctly different individuals, moulding them into a well-oiled machine.
