It’s Dave Grohl’s 51st birthday today, and Foo Fighters chose today to begin celebrations to mark their 25th anniversary as a band.
Posting on their social media, Foo Fighters said the following on Twitter:
Holy Shit!!! 25 years?!
Thank you guys for being with us year after year…for singing along & making every show the best night of our lives.
We’re JUST getting started, so
Buckle up, 2020… it’s going to be an INSANE year full of some seriously crazy shit…#FF25 #FF2020 pic.twitter.com/BVesTPAIDp— Foo Fighters (@foofighters) January 14, 2020
They said similar on Facebook.
It’s been three years since the release of their last album, ‘Concrete And Gold‘, and what better occasion to release a new album than their 25th year, 2020. Speaking to RockSound.TV about the prospect last year, drummer Taylor Hawkins said that they hoped “to have a new record by next year”. Both Hawkins, and guitarist Chris Shiflett have been working on solo/other projects during that time, while Dave Grohl has been lending his services to other bands – including Taylor Hawkins And The Coattail Riders. On the Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show, speaking about the new album, Grohl said,
“I don’t want to give away too much, but… we’re, like, right in the middle of it right now”
With all that, as well as today’s social media posts, it certainly seems like Foo Fans have something to get excited about! Watch this space!
