British singer, songwriter and footballer Chelcee Grimes has released a new single ‘Tryna Not Fall In Love.’
Following the success of her last single ‘Time To Talk’, the new track is very catchy, and has an infectious beat to it. In June 2018, Chelcee released her debut single, ‘Just Like That’. The music video was uploaded to YouTube and gained over 100,000 views in just 24 hours.
As well as carving her solo career, Chelcee has a long list of successful co-writes on tracks for some of the biggest names in music. Her credits, to name a few, include Dua Lipa & BLACKPINK (Kiss And Make Up), Olly Murs (Deeper), Kylie Minogue (Million Miles), Jonas Blue (Wild), and Tom Walker & Zara Larsson (Now You’re Gone). Looking ahead to 2020, she has more extremely exciting songwriting cuts to come.
Speaking about the single, Chelcee said,
“’Tryna Not Fall In Love’ is a song about trying your hardest to not go and do what I always seem to do – fall in love! I was in the studio with my friend Jamie Sellers around when I first got together with someone I was dating at the time. I was like “naaaa I’m just having fun” but I have a big heart. He was asking what was going on and I just said “I’m tryna not fall in love!” As soon as I said it – we both looked at eachother and knew we needed to write about it.”
An infectious pop song, ‘Tryna Not Fall In Love’ has an incredibly catchy beat, which is complimented by the vocals. Lyrically the song will resonate with many listeners, as Chelcee sings about trying to not fall in love when you have a big heart. “I tried to ignore this feeling, believe me” is about trying to ignore a feeling that is quite obviously there because you don’t want to fall in love. Chelcee picks up on the reality of love, and many will find it very relatable. This song is so catchy and can definitely get put into your head!
Interestingly Chelcee Grimes’ first success didn’t come from the studio, it came from the football pitch! From the ages of 10 – 16, she played for her hometown club, Liverpool Ladies, before moving on to join Everton, Tottenham, Tranmere, where she now plays for Fulham FC.
Having presented during their Women’s World Cup coverage, Chelcee has now been assigned as one of the anchors on ‘MOTDX’ — a brand new prime time BBC 2 football show about the lifestyle and culture of the Premier League. She’s also currently the ambassador for Barclays Women’s Super League.
Chelcee Grimes is blossoming success wherever she goes and with ‘Tryna Not Fall In Love’, she is certainly an artist to keep an eye on.
