Antonio also recently won the Emerging Artist Award at the Eastern Eye: Arts, Culture & Theatre Awards for his stand out performance in Eaten By Lions. The film also stars comedians Asim Chaudhry (People Just Do Nothing) and Johnny Vegas (Benidorm) as well as Vicki Pepperdine (Getting On), Kevin Eldon (Hot Fuzz), Hayley Tamaddon (Emmerdale / Coronation Street) and Nitin Ganatra (EastEnders).
“One Mother, Two Brothers, Three Dads”.
Omar and Pete are half-brothers. When their Gran passes away, they go on a life changing road trip to find Omar’s birth father. Armed with a biscuit tin containing a birth certificate, a photograph and their deceased mother’s diary, the pair of likely lads head on a quest that will change their lives forever. Along the way they meet a dodgy fortune teller, their racist aunt and uncle and a seedy guest house owner. What could possibly go wrong? What follows is a hilarious journey of self-discovery and the true meaning of family, set amongst the bright lights of Blackpool.
Director Jason Wingard said:
“The story is essentially about the importance of family. I wanted the viewer to forget about incidentals such as race or disability and focus on the characters. It’s an attitude we applied to everyone in the film really. The story deals with big contemporary issues (class, diversity, disability, inter-racial relations, foster and adoption, sexuality, love, life and death) in a sharp and often irreverent way. A comedy with heart without skimping on laughs.”
Additional screenings of ‘Eaten By Lions’ are still taking place across the UK. For more information, go to their official website.
