Critically acclaimed Rachael Sage returns with an acoustic reimagining of one of her most revered tracks ‘Sistersong’. Originally recorded in 1998 as a tribute to feminist icon Ani DiFranco, the new recording of the track features female artists Nalani and Sarina and looks into the idea of sisterhood in all its iterations. The song explores and channels the intricacies of sexism, ageism, and the unrealistic expectations that the world has for women in a truly delicate and beautiful way.
‘Everybody’s saying she’s lookin’ older // Could it be there is a cruel subtext to all this endless adulation’ sings Sage in her characteristically velvet tones, and in a second sums up the sentiments of this emotionally charged single.
Released today, on International Women’s Day, ‘Sistersong’ is part of a growing movement of people who have had enough of the standards that women are forced to conform to. Check out the exclusive premiere of the track below, and stay tuned to see what this talented singer-songwriter gets up to next….
