Them Guns – ‘Fireworks’

Formed in 2013 in Santa Cruz, California, and now based in Los Angeles, Them Guns have released their latest track, ‘Fireworks’. The song is all about the wrong choices, and the hope that the last one you made was your last ever.

In the video we see footage of fireworks, intercut with clips of the band rocking out in a starkly lit room. The lead singer has his face deliberately disfigured with tape – clearly all is not well. Lyrics like “fireworks in my mind” and “And if you feel that all is lost / Blame it on the coins you tossed. / Nothing’s changed, I’m still the same / Swear to God with fingers crossed” reflect the unease and uncertainty they’re experiencing.

Focus shifts from each member of the band, as if shot from the perspective of a swinging lightbulb. The camerawork feels somehow invasive and sininster; there’s more than a sense of distress.

‘Fireworks’ is from Them Guns’ full-length album, ‘From The Shadows’, set for release today on TLG/Ingrooves. The band have already played New York, London, up and down the west coast, and SXSW, and will be hitting the road in support of their new album.
