The Essential Advent Calendar: December 7 – Emily Lockett Declares We’ve ‘Always Got Next Christmas’

Staffordshire singer songwriter Emily Lockett’s EP, ‘My Imagination’ is set for release on 14 December. The country/pop singer has spent 2018 creating, fine-tuning, and performing her original music, including just under 40 live shows, including the 110 Above Festival, and opening for Nashville’s The Sara Beth Trio, as well as Gary Quinn, Laura Oakes, and The Southern Companion (Darren Hodson).

The upbeat and joyous ‘Always Got Next Christmas’ is a bittersweet song to a loved one who isn’t around, but it’s nonetheless catchy and happy, with the hope that that the other will be there next Christmas. The song isn’t part of her latest EP, but was originally recorded and released when Emily was 15, and appeared on 2016s ‘Reflections Of Me’. It is however no less relevant now, and still makes for a great Christmas tune.
Still in her teens, Stoke-On-Trent singer Emily won the “Artist Of The Year 2018 – People’s Vote” award from British Country Airplay, while her song, ‘Nice Eyes’ (which also appears on the EP) was highly commended in the 2018 national Song Academy Young Songwriter competition, in the 13-18 years category.
Speaking of the EP, Emily says,
“’My Imagination’, is a compilation of brand new material, songs which have been released as singles via online music platforms and also some of my favourite tracks from ‘Reflections of Me’, which I’ve re-recorded. The EP features two brand new tracks called ‘Strangers Again’ and ‘Break up Song’. I wanted to produce an EP that reflected what you’re hearing live at the moment if you come to one of my shows.”
Set for release on 14 December, ‘My Imagination’ is available to pre-order and pre-save now, while physical CDs can be purchased from her official website. We hope to review Emily’s EP closer to the release date. You can also find Emily online on her Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts. You can listen to her music on Reverbnation, Spotify, and YouTube accounts. Check out Music Glue for her music too.
