Olly Murs’ new single, ‘Moves’ (ft Snoop Dogg) was released on 28th September. Written by Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac, the track is a massive slice of pure pop and features on the end credits of the forthcoming film, ‘Johnny English Strikes Again’. The film will be in cinemas from October 5, and is released through Universal Pictures.
Olly reached out to Ed Sheeran while working on his yet to be released new album, and was blown away when he heard ‘Moves’. Olly and Ed were both keen to add a melodic US rap artist to the track, and the top of both their lists was Snoop Dogg.
Olly explained,
“Snoop was just perfect for the song,” Olly enthuses. “There’s no one else that has that much character in his raps. He’s such an original.”
As a result, what started life as a really good track was transformed into an instant classic.
David Kerr, director of ‘Johnny English Strikes Again’, said,
“Olly’s track is the perfect feel-good tune for the end of the movie. It’s incredibly catchy – and the lyrics are uncannily apt. Let’s face it, no-one has “moves” like Johnny English.”
Olly, who joined The Voice last season as a judge, and returns in the new year, is currently working on putting the final touches to his new album, his first since the release of ’24 HRS’ in 2016. The album contained the hit, ‘You Don’t Know Love’, and the singer consequently played 24 sold out UK dates while touring the album last year.
