Heather O’Neill – ‘Nicotine And Neon’

‘Nicotine And Neon’, from Heather O’Neill’s EP ‘Transmute’, is the latest track from the Irish-born, Chicago-based singer songwriter.

The track, in O’Neill’s words, is “all about hard work and dedication going unseen and underappreciated.” It’s a hard-rocking track with a fast paced bass line, which differs greatly from the acoustic release, ‘Lady Blue’, which we covered back in May. Rather than sounding like Sandy Denny, as on the previous track, O’Neill now channels fellow rock goddesses such as Grace Slick and Joan Jett – there’s even a Janis Joplin vibe to the vocals.
