Following the success of their debut single ‘Grown Ups’ and emotive B-side track ‘Goodbye’, :PM kick-start 2018 with another solid pop smash, ‘Feel Like A Fool’. The fivesome are lined-up to support The Vamps on their headline UK tour this April/May.
‘Feel Like A Fool’ reaffirms :PM’s effortless talent to take their energy-packed sound to create ultimate pop gems with instantly infectious hooks. The single is packed with the northern mischief that we have come to know and love the boys for, with playful, witty lyrics that tell the story of young, unrequited love and all that comes with it.
We caught up with :PM and found out how they tick.
EP: What’s the :PM story? What’s the deal with the colon on your name and what’s your name all about?
[space height=”10″]
:PM: We started out as a few kids in school who wanted to start a band. Josh & Harry started the band and then saw Dan sing a song in assembly, Alex was Josh’s next door neighbour & Joe joined later when the original bass player left. When we realised it was actually something we could pursue we decided to put our everything into it, we met songwriter Helen Boulding who we instantly clicked with musically & here we are! The name we liked because it has a reference to our past name & with the colon if you flip it sideways it’s the tongue emoji 😛 , fun, different & could be made to mean whatever people want it to.

EP: You’re joining The Vamps on their tour next month, a band who are known for taking bands under their wing and getting them known to a wider audience. How did that come about! How do you feel about the possibility of becoming the next big thing?
[space height=”10″]
:PM: To cut a long story short, our managers met up and we were put forward for their UK Tour along with a few other bands & it was decided by The Vamps that we’d open for them on the UK Leg of the Night and Day tour! When we found out we were so excited! – it was like 10pm on a Thursday but we all got together to celebrate. The idea of being the next big thing hasn’t even crossed our minds, but we’re gonna make the most of the tour and see what comes of it!

EP: We enjoyed the staccato sound of ‘Feel Like A Fool’; it’s upbeat and fun. What’s the song all about, in your own words? Is it autobiographical? Describe your sound to us!
[space height=”10″]
:PM: The song is a little bit autobiographical but really we think it happens to everybody! It’s about being on and off with a boyfriend/girlfriend, and not knowing what they’re thinking. Especially when you see them with someone else even when they’re telling you how much they’re into you! PS we’re glad you like it!
[space height=”10″]
Our sound has a vintage rock & roll/punk edge mixed with pop, whilst our songs are very much in the pop-indie camp.
[space height=”10″]
EP: You’ve been together as a band since 2009 so you’ve definitely picked up some tips along the way. What advice do you have for anyone just starting out on their musical journey? Similarly, if you could do it all over again, what, if anything, would you do differently, and why?
[space height=”10″]
:PM: The best advice we could give would be to practise as much as you can and never give up hope that this is something you can do for the rest of your life! It may drive you crazy at times but it’s worth it! And if we had to do it again, we wouldn’t change a thing. Every mistake we’ve made or empty show we’ve played has lead us to this point and shaped us into the band we are now! So keep going is our main advice!
[space height=”10″]
EP: So after touring next month, what’s next for :PM?
[space height=”10″]
:PM: Well that would be telling! Let’s just say there are lots of exciting things on the horizon for :PM and you should watch this space (or just follow our social media pages)
[space height=”10″]
EP: What question do you wish someone would ask you in an interview but nobody ever does?
[space height=”10″]
:PM: Nobody ever asks us our favourite type of cheese. Sometimes the world needs to know the answers to burning questions like this.
