Essential Advent Calendar: Dick Van Dyke & Jane Lynch – ‘We’re Going Caroling’

Think of great Christmas traditions, and after the roast goose or turkey, and the tree, surely caroling from door to door must be right up there. Dick Van Dyke and Jane Lynch bring this holiday happening right back with their seasonal song, ‘We’re Going Caroling’. It’s day 12 on the Essential Advent Calendar.

‘We’re Going Caroling’, composed and arranged by legendary musician, songwriter, and producer, Tony Guerrero, is a new spin on the old sounds of the holidays. It’s not as easy as it sounds, when such classics as ‘Jingle Bells’, ‘Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer’ and ‘Deck The Halls’ are already ingrained in our collective sub-conscious. Guerrero however stepped up to the challenge. Working on a one-off project, Guerrero, Jane Lynch’s producer, saw the potential in getting the two together, and set about writing ‘We’re Going Caroling’.

The video for the track was directed and edited by Tony, and shot at Universal Studios, in Hollywood. Showing Dick and Jane dancing and prancing around the mic while they go into details about their plans to to spend the day singing door to door, the white backdrop and snow, as well as their winter clothes, are a delightful and inspiring scene. ‘We’re Going Caroling’ feels destined to become a holiday classic: you heard it here first.

‘We’re Going Caroling’ is available on iTunes. You can find out more information about Dick Van Dyke and Jane Lynch here.
