Ahead of the release of their EP, ‘The Collector’ in August, comes ‘Play Your Cards’ from English pop duo, Words & Noises.
Comprising singer songwriter Chris Selman and percussionist Simon Williams, Words & Noises create a unique brand of pop music which has been described by BBC Radio 6 Music as,
“highly entertaining and enjoyable – quirky, contemporary pop with clever lyrics”
Additionally, BBC Introducing Manchester said,
“absolutely top stuff – incredible”
while Amazing Radio described them as
“hot new DIY pop”.
It’s a lot to live up to – but the 80s style track from Words & Noises, which was recorded at Manchester’s renowned Blueprint Studio, is certainly a track you’ll want to listen to over and over. It’s got a really catchy hook, the “oooh ahhh ooooh” which will be in your brain long after you’ve managed to drag yourself away from the song. There’s a really familiar feel about ‘Play Your Cards’ – it opens a bit like ‘Take On Me’ from AHa – and then turns into something that sounds like it could have been by Cheap Trick. It’s a likeable sound, and leaves you excited for what the duo has in store with their EP.
‘Play Your Cards’ is set for release on June 17 through Ditto Music and will be available on all good streaming and download services.
