Doom pop quartet from Manchester, Easy Kill, share their second new single, ‘Not Even Lovers’, from their forthcoming EP, ‘Sermons’, which will be ready for release February 26th.
The band mixes their melancholy style with pop ballad songwriting, and has had a good showing with their first single off the new EP, ‘Samson’, which earned them Huw Stephen’s ‘Pick Of The Week’, airplay from 6 Music and Amazing Radio, as well as props from DIY.
Easy Kill’s latest single, ‘Not Even Lovers’, is an emotionally driven piece that has a free flowing structure with a lot of dynamic twist and turns. It is a fairly long song at a little over five minutes, but is understandable as it needs to move slowly and subtly into each of the songs emotional phrases and does perfect justice for it’s intense swelling dynamics. DIY referred to Easy Kill’s new single as, “breezy, National-channelling balladry”.
