And Then There Was One is the solo project of Stevie Caldwell, a singer songwriter from Boston, who cites her influences as Fleetwood Mac, and Hole. Not surprising then to hear that, when she first started writing music and lyrics at the age of 13,

I originally wanted to write lyrics and melodies as beautiful as Stevie Nicks, and rock out as hard as Hole. Now I just want to sound like me.
Stevie’s no slouch on the guitar either: her playing is high energy up-tempo rock, her skills honed through playing live around Boston, both by herself, and with her band, Six Times Seven.
Stevie’s music is hard to classify in terms of genre – lyrically it has something we can’t quite put our finger on – it’s a roller coaster of emotion; introspective and self-exploratory. Love given, love lost, love unrequited. It’s REAL. Sad, emotional. Stirring.

Probably our favourite song, among a lot of stand out songs, was the one we first heard, 'Dawn'. It's not quite so rocky as the rest, it's got a very indie-pop feeling about it, it's mellow, yet it tears at our hearts with its lyrics. One wonders what has happened to Stevie to cause her to pour her emotions into such stirring words. Whatever has caused it we're glad she's shared.

I love to watch you as you rise
To see your skin touched by the morn
To feel your warmth upon my face
And lay beneath the coming dawn
You never promised me the moon
And still I wrapped you up in stars
You disappeared without a trace
Left your fingerprints in my scars
And I will wait forever
Now that you know
When I open my eyes in the morning
The first thing I want to know
The first thing I want to touch…feel
Is your soft glow
And I will wait forever
Now that you know
