A Walk ‘In the Woods’ With Berne

With a broad vocal range and arresting delivery, Berne’s ethereal, dark and intriguing songs offer poignancy and drama. Inspired by the realities that surround us in our daily struggle, Berne topped the charts twice in her native Malta with her band Bletchley Park. Her debut single, ‘India’ was awarded the title of ‘Best Single Release’ in 2012, by The Sunday Times of Malta.

Berne says,

“‘In the Woods’ is about being in a dark place so often and for so long that it becomes the only place you know. You begin to appreciate the beauty of this place because it makes you braver, stronger – it becomes part of who you are.”

Berne counts Jamie Cullum among her fans, and cites her influences as including Regina Spektor, Imogen Heap, Agnes Obel and Marina Diamandis. She is set to release the hauntingly piano-heavy single, ‘In The Woods’ on October 16, followed by her debut EP, ‘Conversation’, on 13 November.
