Stubborn Son, from Seattle, USA, have released a new video for their song, ‘The Broken Heart Proof’, lead track from their album, ‘Birthright’.
Getting together as a band in 2014, Garrett Lamp (Guitar/Vox), Bassist Andrew Knapp and Blair Daly on Drums, discovered that they mutually loved rock music. Andrew and Blair had known each other since childhood, while Garrett became friends with Andrew more recently through Seattle’s vibrant live music scene. They met up at Jupiter Studios in the winter of 2014 with producer Martin Feveyear, and recorded ‘Birthright’ – taking a mere (if intense) two weeks to do it.
Lead track ‘The Broken Heart Proof’ is, in the words of the band,
“the challenge to love without the fear of getting your heart broken. Even if you do get your heart broken, although painful, is proof that you truly loved, that you gave yourself to something deeper and bigger than you. We have to go out looking and searching for love, it is a deep emotion that we cant expect to feel the fullness of unless we give into it. It is so good in fact, that we would rather be lonely having felt the great joy of love once than to never have felt it at all.”
‘The Broken Heart Proof’ is a feisty song, lots of strong guitar and drums, there’s a bit of Eric Clapton about it, a bit of Delta Blues: bluesy with slide guitar. The accompanying video shows a man who’s had to make some changes in his life, but is still holding onto his past – until he meets up with some friends who show him there’s a brighter future ahead of him.
Stubborn Son’s album ‘Birthright’ was released on July 12. You can buy it on digital download or CD from their website or Amazon. Find Stubborn Son online on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Soundcloud, and their website.
