StereoRiots – ‘Ghost Machines’

The braincild of lead singer/guitarist Wahid Hashime and bassist Jey Williams, StereoRiots came together after a successful Craigslist ad, which saw them pick up drummer Moe Sesay, and Erica Yu on keyboards and synth. Their sound was fully realised when they were discovered by Austin Bello, who produced their first EP in 2014, ‘Intervals’, and a change in lineup (Jorge Ramirez replaced Yu on keys, and Chris Ruffin took over on bass).

ash.ØK – ‘Shattered On The Inside’ ft. Conkarah x DJ Jounce

Better known by his performing name ash.ØK, Philadelphia-based producer Ashok Kailath is one of the most versatile around, with his excellent ear and refreshing cutting edge vision which enables him to turn to gold anything he works on. His debut album, ‘The Unravelled’, takes his talents and combines them with his expertly chosen team of collaborators, including Indian percussionist Jomy George, the pan-ethnic West Philadelphia Orchestra and Grammy-award-winning cellist Tina Guo. ash.ØK follows up the powerful title track which was released last year, with his brand new single, ‘Shattered On The Inside’, which picks up where ‘The Unravelled’ left off.

Adrian Conner – ‘Airport Coffee’

Adrian Conner is a very busy lady. Familiar to regular readers of Essentially Pop as one half of duo Beaux Cheveux (with Clementine providing the other half), Adrian is also the lead guitarist in an all female AC/DC cover band, Hell’s Belles. Now Adrian has a solo EP coming out, ‘SpazKitty’, on which she’s not only performed but also written, produced, edited and engineered. Adrian is certainly the definition of an independent artist and we’re not even going to pretend it’s a coincidence that her new single is named ‘Airport Coffee’, because she likely needs a few coffees (not necessarily airport ones) to get through all she manages to do.

‘I Am A Killer’ – Docu-Series Premieres May 29th, 2018

In the same vein as many documentaries on the subject of the most horrific of crimes; murder, this new ten-part series ‘I Am A Killer’, produced for the Crime and Investigation channel, in association with Netflix, will challenge our understanding of what is evil. There is nothing more grimly fascinating than what drives one human being to brutally, and in some cases without remorse, murder another human being.
