Greg Antista and The Lonely Streets – ‘Goodnight Ramona’

Greg Antista has been a face in the California punk scene for the better part of three decades, having played with the late Steve Soto, in Joyride, whose 1992 debut set, ‘Johnny Bravo’, is a landmark in that state’s punkpop scene. He’s toured Europe, including Rebellion Festival in the UK with Foxy, another fun and exciting punk band. Now he’s got his own group, The Lonely Streets, who will be releasing their debut album, ‘Shake, Stomp and Stumble’, produced by Paul Miner, in May this year. First drop from the album is the brisk and hooky, ‘Goodnight Ramona’.

She’s also appeared on TV, performing on Ellen, X Factor, and various programmes on Nickelodeon.

Demola – ‘Light Up’ f/ Wande Coal

Nigerian artist Demola isn’t afraid to do things differently and to mix it up when it comes to his music. Although his usual style is Afrobeat, for his latest single, ‘Light Up’, the unmistakeable sound of a violin turns up mere seconds into the track. It shouldn’t work: the rhythm is a full on bounce, buoyant and packed full of sunshine; the violin is breezy, and cool – like a walk through a forest. It shouldn’t work – but somehow – it does.
