Johan Huumo Takes A Journey of Identity With Latest Single, ‘Waving Goodbye’

With a sound that draws clear influence from the likes of Peter Jöback, Jessie J, Jake Wesley Rogers, and Benjamin Ingrosso, Swedish pop artist Johan Huumo’s new single, ‘Waving Goodbye’ brings together potent melodies with an emotional depth that showcases a strong message of self-discovery.

By way of grand cinematic styling, while remaining quite intimate, Huumo is able to capture the very nature of what it means to rid oneself of outdated roles, and in their place fully recognise one’s authentic self.

A captivating pop track, ‘Waving Goodbye’ was written by Fredrik Kellerman, who has described it as being one of his most personal and powerful songs so far. Kellerman does double duty on the song’s production, alongside Neash and Paul Rein, while Johan Huumo’s vocals are rich and emotive, blended to perfection with the highly textured soundscape.

Johan Huumo (pronounced “Homo”), is the stage name of Johan Huumonen, an artist with a background in musical theatre, most notably having performed in ‘Kinky Boots’, and ‘Pippin’.Huumo’s debut single, ‘Dancing On A Rainbow’, released in 2022, was selected as Sweden’s official Pride Anthem, and is only one of his many successes, which also includes his earlier single this year, ‘Hear Me Out’, which has so far exceeded 50,000 streams, and been added to top playlists, including ‘Summer Pop: New Hits 2025’.

Additionally, Johan recently performed alongside soul singer Laila Adèle at Malmö’s Pildammsteatern, enthralling the audience of more than 2,000 attendees, and later this year he will be performing in The Rocky Horror Show, at Nöjesteatern, in Malmö.
