You Ever See A Cactus Hesitate? Matthew Squires Gives Us A Delightful Stream Of Consciousness With ‘Song Of A Cactus’

Released on November 1, ‘Song Of A Cactus’, from Matthew Squires, is delightfully quirky and joyful, as he implores listeners to consider the cactus when thinking about their lives.

The cactus is the symbol of the desert, but what do they do, exactly? They certainly don’t let stuff get them down, that’s for sure. They’re standing, resolute, never hesitating, despite the decreasing amount of space around them, their hands constantly raised above them. A sentinel reminding us of the importance of just remaining, and never quitting.

Accompanied by an acoustic guitar and synths, Matthew Squires’ voice is a little scratchy and quite unique (even though he does remind me a bit of Kermit the Frog…I could imagine Kermit singing this actually), but it’s pleasant enough and his lyrics are a stream of consciousness that quickly take the listener away with them.

Be inspired by Matthew Squires ‘Song Of A Cactus’.
