Glowtrees Have ‘Something To Say’ With New Alt Rock EP

Released on August 23, ‘Something To Say’ is the new four track EP from trio, Glowtrees. A high energy homage to the alt rock music of the 90s and 00s, the lyrics draw from personal and societal experiences of the pressures of modern life. ‘Something To Say’ is available to stream and download here.

Comprising Leanne, Paul, and Alan, Glowtrees was formed in Birmingham in early 2022, after Leanne and Paul connected creatively during lockdown. The pair had already collaborated with Leanne’s first band, Twist, and when they were joined on drums by Alan, who had previously worked with Leanne in her band, Shana Tova (described by Tom Robinson as Birmingham’s best kept secret), Glowtrees was born.

The new trio soon got down to working at Robannas studio, putting together an incredible 30 songs within a few months, and then starting to perform live. Clearly nothing was holding them back, and fans recognised this instantly.

Glowtrees derive their sound from alt-rock, grunge, indie, math pop, and psychedelic rock, with interludes of layered, melodic introspection. Lyrics are written by Leanne, address subjects such as mental health, social media, LGBTQ+ issues, bullying, relationships, and spirituality, through messages of strength, hope, and inclusivity.

‘Something To Say’ is high energy and feel good, rendering it impossible to sit still and just absorb the music – you need to get involved as well, whether it be just nodding along or getting up and dancing. It’s clear that this goes some way to why Glowtrees are a great live act; their music is everything that was great about the 90s and 00s, with a contemporary twist.

‘Something To Say’ is authentically all Glowtrees work, recorded live in their home studio, which they call The Doood. It was then mixed and mastered by Paul, who also designed the logo, while Leanne provided the artwork. It’s all raw and authentic, and very very real.

Lead track, ‘One More Night’, is moving and emotive, and was written about cherishing one last night with a loved one. The song will soon be visualised with a music video.

‘Something To Say’ is out now and can be streamed and downloaded here. You can find out more about Glowtrees and their music online on Instagram, and Facebook.
