Go West Return With UK Tour To Celebrate Their Debut Top 5 Hit ‘We Close Our Eyes’

It’s hard to believe that not only was Go West’s ‘We Close Our Eyes’ their debut release, but that it was released way back in February 1985, making this year 37 years since it came out. Under normal circumstances Go West would have toured in 2020 in celebration of this classic, but with Covid-19 getting in the way, they’re instead making 2022 the new 2020.

Their UK tour will take in 4 dates, with Go West accompanied by a full live orchestra. Not only that, but frequent touring mates Cutting Crew will be performing as special guests. Tickets are on sale now, and are available from Go West’s official website.

The delayed tour will see Go West perform all their greatest hits, and the band have been rehearsing remotely over the past 6 months with The Southbank Sinfonia. The duo, which was formed back in 1982 by lead vocalist Peter Cox and guitarist Richard Drummie, followed ‘We Close Our Eyes’ with a string of singles including ‘Call Me’, ‘Don’t Look Down’, ‘Goodbye Girl’, Faithful’, Tracks Of My Tears’, and ‘King Of Wishful Thinking’. They became hits all over the world, and the latter song was featured on the soundtrack for the film, ‘Pretty Woman’.

Go West’s self-titled debut album sold 1.5 million copies internationally, and was in the UK charts for a mammoth 83 weeks. The music video for ‘We Close Our Eyes’ was a big hit too, being directed by Godley & Crème. Go West went on to win the people’s choice award for ‘Best British Newcomer’ at the BRITs in 1986.

‘Celebrating 35 Years Of Go West With Full Live Orchestra’ will occur in March this year, and shall be followed by a double headline tour with Paul Young, in May. Support for the orchestral shows will be provided by Cutting Crew, no strangers to the top of the charts themselves.
