Cheap Cuts have released an incredible remix for their most recent track “Check Your Phone.” The remix is now titled “Check Your Sunscreen.” It is now available to stream here and below:
“Check Your Phone” is a fantastic track which features Fall Out Boy star Pete Wentz. The “Check Your Sunscreen” remix is a combination of that and Baz Luhrmann’s Everybody’s Free (To Wear Sunscreen). The song centres around the digital age and how our values have changed because of it. When speaking of the track, Cheap Cuts have said;
“Check Your Sunscreen is a timeline/journey from everybody wear sunscreen in 1999 to Check Your Phone in 2020. We wanted to explore how people’s values have been influenced by the digital revolution, expressed by Pete in CYP. We love sunscreen. It’s a massive influence for Check Your Phone, and we’ve always thought both tracks are from the same family, even if Check Your Phone is the ugly sister. This also explores a different side to Cheap Cuts sound that’s more electronic/experimental, and harks back to chemical brothers dig your own hole.”
“Check Your Phone” is the perfect summer anthem. It’s bouncy and fun but still has an influential meaning. As much as we hate to deny it, we’re all glued to our phones. In their debut, Cheap Cuts explore this further and have created a masterpiece in the process.
