Bristol’s Emilia J grew up surrounded by music, and with her new release, ‘Cloud 9’ she hopes to repeat the success of her previous release, ‘Radar’, which soared to the number 5 spot on the Official UK Club Charts.
‘Cloud 9’, released on 15 May it’s available to stream and download across all digital media platforms, is an edgy track, about breaking down the status quo, with Emilia’s primary inspirations being other strong, unstoppable women, as well as herself. It’s an RnB track with Emilia switching between singing and rapping, and handling both with ease. She’s sassy and determined, with a flow which holds its own against more established artists of similar genre.
Lyrics such as “fake it till you make it / but I’m already on your playlist / watch me getting down to business” show Emilia to be no fool when it comes to knowing what she wants from her music career, and she has no hesitation in getting it.
Emilia J has been compared to both Zara Larsson and Mabel, while her sound takes clear inspiration from the likes of Post Malone, and Ariana Grande.
