LIVEWIRE Festival to return in 2019 to Tower Headland Arena, Blackpool August 22nd – 25th 2019. First headliner announced, Ms. Lauryn Hill, performing on Saturday 24th August 2019. Tickets go on sale this Friday 5th April at 10am through Ticketmaster.
After a massive inaugural year in 2017, which saw unforgettable performances by a host of UK and international acts including Will Smith & DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Jacksons, LIVEWIRE Festival announces it will return to the famous seaside resort for the August bank holiday in 2019. From Thursday August 22nd – Sunday August 25th Blackpool’s Tower Headland Arena will once again welcome some of the world’s biggest stars.
The first headline artist to be announced is Ms. Lauryn Hill, who will be performing on Saturday August 24th, joined by other acts yet to be announced. Ms. Lauryn Hill established her presence in the musical world as the lone female member of The Fugees, whose record sales would make them the second biggest selling R&B act worldwide since Michael Jackson, with iconic singles including ‘Killing Me Softly’, ‘Ready Or Not’ and ‘No Women No Cry’. She launched her solo career with the release of the commercially successful and critically acclaimed album ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’, which earned a record breaking five Grammy Awards.
With an eclectic appreciation and voracious appetite for good music, Ms. Hill would establish herself as a genre spanning star, impossible to pigeon-hole as she effortlessly bounced between soul, R&B, rap, Motown and more.
After last year’s festival was cancelled due to the ill-health of key personnel a spokesperson for Blackpool Council said:
“we are delighted to see the return of Livewire. It promises to deliver a feast of live entertainment to the Tower Festival Headland and adds yet another dimension to a brilliant programme of events lined up for Blackpool this summer.”
Anyone that purchased tickets to last year’s festival can email info@livewirefestival.co.uk with their booking reference, name, and address to receive a code that will remove all booking fees for this year’s festival.
More information regarding the other headline acts will be released over the coming weeks.
