Jeff Goldblum, the thinking woman’s pin-up, has set hearts a-flutter today at St Pancras International as he launched his debut jazz album, recorded with his long time band, The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra. Set for release on 9th November, ‘The Capitol Studios Sessions’ will combined with two London appearances, on November 17 at Cadogan Hall, and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club on 22 November.
Beloved for his laid back comedic acting style, as seen in classics such as the ‘Jurassic Park’ films, ‘Independence Day’, and most recently, ‘Hotel Artemis’, Jeff announced in person his forthcoming album, with an exclusie solo performance on the Elton John piano. The impromptu live performance was interspersed with his improvised comedy, and a crowd singalong.
Goldblum said,
I always like playing out and about. Ya never know who yer gonna meet. And music soothes the savage breast! Or is it beast?
The performance followed on from the world exclusive first play of his song, ‘My Baby Just Cares For Me’, featuring Haley Reinhart, on BBC Radio 2 this morning. Goldblum posted on his Instagram account about it yesterday:
Jeff Goldblum and The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra release ‘The Capitol Studios Sessions’ on 9th November 2018 on Decca, and perform at Cadogan Hall on Sat 17 November and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club on Thurs 22 November as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival.
