Shane Palko – ‘Sunrise In Bangkok’

Shane Palko is not your average singer songwriter. The Pennsylvania native has taken a musical journey which has seen him perform in over 25 countries and counting, including China, Vietnam, Russia, and South Africa. His latest single takes us to Thailand, with ‘Sunrise In Bangkok’.

The track comes with a video which is effectively a story about a day with a girl in a beautiful city. The girl in question is Pimwalan Gisele Mungsing, winner of Thailand’s Got Talent, and a fantastic singer herself. We’re taken on a tour of Bangkok from street level, following Palko and Pimwalan, interspersed with scenes of Shane and his band playing the song. The jazzy melodrama added by the drums, bass, and keys gives a deeper level to Palko’s music, and really works well with his lyrics. Written in the first groggy light of a Bangkok morning after staying up all night after his first official concert there in 2012, ‘Sunrise In Bangkok’ was originally recorded in 2013 by Shane and his friends, in a wooden house, built by his brother, in Landenberg Pennsylvania. Released on his ‘Emerging’ album in 2014, he was invited back to Bangkok to make a video for the track by his friend, director SNOW.

The video itself is shot with a simplistic style, like a travel vlog. It’s easygoing and relaxed; just like the track it illustrates.

Shane says of the clip,

It was a very full-circle experience making the music video now with my slightly less gangly, slightly more manly body, paired with the recording of my manchild voice.
