Regular readers will remember we brought you the debut song from John Hickman, ‘Hello Hello’, which was accompanied by a slick video shot in and around Greenwich, London. John’s back, with his new release, ‘Cascade’, which like ‘Hello Hello’ is another piano-led soft rock track.
John’s debut album ‘Remnants’, was released in September last year, garnering high acclaim from the press, with Vents Magazine calling it a “stylistically nimble release”, and Music Existence praised his “intensely human and deceptively large range”, and added, “His vocals are capable of invoking all the energy necessary for great rock and roll, but he’s likewise quite capable of a much more careful approach appreciating the dramatic possibilities born from memorable phrasing.”
‘Hello Hello’ did well, and charted on the Top 40 of the AC Charts, and ‘Cascade’ seems set to follow this trend. The clip is a psychedelic masterpiece, with animation by Micah Buzan. We see a large moon, mountains, and various sea creatures floating through space – the whales “swimming” towards a Saturn-like planet, and the sting rays bringing technicolor rainbows in their wake are quite effective, as is the opening and closing lotus flower towards the end. John appears in cartoon form, orbiting throughout the galaxy in a bubble.
