MaWayy – ‘Wrong’

‘Wrong’ from MaWayy has all the elements of a great summer song. Downtempo, yet energetic enough to get the party moving. A contemporary sound, with a great drum build, a hooky chorus, and synths that melt across the vocal sample. It’s easy to picture it played at a party, on the open road, in the gym, and especially at the beach.

MaWayy is a collaboration across continents. Los Angeles native Brian Wayy, has won Emmy Awards for his TV show compositions, and has remixed the music of Paula Abdul, Rod Stewart, and Diana Ross, among others. Iranian Masoud Fuladi – aka Caspian Beat, is one of his country’s most successful electronic musicians, and is an attraction in his home city of Bandar-e-Azali. Although the pair have never met in person, they have nonetheless developed a working chemistry over the internet that is evident in ‘Wrong’.

The gorgeous video for ‘Wrong’ was shot in Santorini, making good use of the brilliant blue of the domes of the Orthodox churches, and the azure of the Mediterranean. The clip has been directed by Ali Zamani, who’s also worked for Snoop Dogg, T-Pain, Omarion among others.

The video stars Swedish model, Bella Cirnski, and follows her on the beach, in the water, and breaking the heart of a young man in the club. Altogether the song and clip are stunning, and the perfect way to catch hold of the dwindling summer days.
