Self-taught musician, recording artist, and producer Zach Ashton, is known for using elements of world music in his work. He’s now announced the release of his fifth album, ‘People and Places’, set to come out on 21 October.
The album was written and recorded over a space of two years and five continents, and produced in Rome, Rio de Janeiro, and Nashville. Lead single, ‘Borderline’, is a guitar based melody, with a laid back feel.
Originally signed in Brazil in 2004, Ashton has already released four studio albums and performed live in front of audiences of over twenty thousand, as well as televised audiences of eleven million. He has shared the stage with the likes of Dionne Warwick, and Angélique Kidjo.
Zach explains that ‘Borderline’ was inspired by the difficulty that comes with understanding one’s place in a relationship plagued by mental illness. He says, “With Borderline, I was trying to be as pure as possible in regards to the lyrics. I didn’t want any metaphors- just honest songwriting directly from the heart.”
Borderline is available to purchase from October 14th with the new album ‘People & Places’ due out October 21st. More information can be found on Zach’s official website, Twitter, Facebook, Soundcloud, Instagram, and Spotify.
