INTRODUCING MOK : ‘CALL CARLTON’

MOK 1

Future rap group, MOK have carved out a unique path for themselves in the three years of their existence. They’ve gained support from BBC Radio, and 1 Xtra, and they’ve performed at festivals such as Blissfields, Shakedown, Brownstock, Forgotten Fields, and The Great Escape.

The opening track from MOKs ‘The House’ VP, ‘Call Carlton’ is highly emotive, multi-layered, and energetic, and highlights the band’s uniqueness and originality.

Everything for ‘The House’ – including the writing, recording, mixing, filming and editing – has been done in the studio the band built at the house they share. In effect, they’ve created a production team made of friends and family: working alongside videographer and editor, Bezann Productions, and pulling together actors, artists, dancers and illustrators, they’ve produced ‘The House’ on zero budget.

MOK are self managed, self promoted, and self funded. They’re in full control of all their creative output, and their live shows are energetic and immersive, combining painstaking production with an effortless stage presence.

About the author

There’s a lot of music out there - good music. At Essentially Pop our remit is that we cover music that deserves to be heard, with a particular focus on independent artists. That doesn't mean we won't cover your old favourites - rather we hope to give you some new favourites as well.

We no longer accept unpaid PR agency work. We believe the creative arts have value, and this includes writing. As always, we will write about artists who contact us - or who we contact - for free - but we can no longer work free of charge for PR agencies. We work hard, we put in a lot of hours writing, and we ask that you respect that. Contact us for our very reasonable rates.
