2016 has started off in spectacular fashion musically, with new and exciting releases Eilish Gilligan’s debut track ‘The Dogs’ falls right into this category.
This Melbourne beauty specialises in all things pop. ‘The Dogs’ flaunts a heavy line of synths accompanied by tender vocals gliding over the backline effortlessly. We absolutely love the simplicity of the track, with its repetitive backline you become mesmerised instantly. Singing of trying to understand the logic behind sadness, when you realise there’s often no trigger or reason for it and the struggle to accept it, the lyrics are personal and thought provoking.
You instantly connect with the intimacy and sincerity of this track, taking you to a whole new world within your head. Gilligan is a founding member of soulful indie outfit Frida, explaining just why this track sounds so rounded for a debut effort compared to many other debuts which leave us desiring more.
If you’re a fan of artists such as Lana Del Rey or Kate Bush we’d definitely recommend you head here to find out more about Eilish Gilligan, you’ll be hooked.
